Round the Office Roundup

It’s time again for another Round the Office Roundup! This series will give you a sneak peek into the world of what’s going on at Digital Pacific. So, what’s been happening?

mrcracklesLunch on Friday was a healthy table-load of Mr Crackles. Everybody was so pants-wettingly excited about their little brown box of pork crackling, that I didn’t have the heart to torture them by busting the camera out to document their consumption. Our office building also had a fire drill yesterday, meaning that the most prominent topic of conversation around was what to do with Tech Support Team Leader, Tom, who is presently sort-of injured and cannot easily make it down the several flights of stairs he would need to scale to make it to safety. It was decided that in the event of a real fire, he should be shoved out of the way as quickly as possible so that a greater number of able-bodied staff could make it out alive. But, since Tom’s a pretty cool guy, we’d definitely tell the fire department that we’d left him for dead inside so that they could maybe go back in and save him. We’re not animals.

A new server security exploit hit the airwaves last week, which our in-house equivalent to Delta Force quickly patched. We’ve got more info on this in it’s very own post here.

Customer’s began getting their hands on our brand new VPS plans over the week. With their ultra-quick SSD storage and higher RAM allocation than ever before, they’re definitely worth checking out if you’ve been thinking about giving your website a little lot more grunt.

The Dev Team “Song of the Week” was kindly provided by Miguel, who I am slightly suspicious just nominated the song purely because it happened to be playing at the time I asked, but regardless, it is: Killing in The Name by Rage Against the Machine.

techl1We’ve also been conducting interviews to expand our Level 1 Tech Support crew (and continue to do so)! If you’re interested in working in an office where you’ll be stuffed full of free food on Fridays, have the opportunity to learn from an ultra-supportive team, be celebrated for your unique human-beingness (we stopped stamping bar-codes on our employee’s foreheads a while back) and actually enjoy coming to work with a bunch of funny, intelligent and exceptionally good-looking people every day, then I encourage you to check out our careers portal for more info.

Here’s a handful of our current Tech Support team, spontaneously captured in a completely natural scene and not at all blurry because Daniel keeps forgetting to bring in a better lens for the office camera. From left to right: Timo, Youi, Raj, Will, their fearless leader Lee and last but not least, Tom.

That’s a wrap for this edition. Wishing you all a great week ahead and good physical health in the event of a fire emergency.
