A Web.com Partner

Having an online presence for your business is essential, but being online comes with the risk of exposure to all the unfriendly actors who are out to wreak havoc on your website and customer data. Thankfully, with Digital Pacific’s range of SSL certificates and security products at your side, securing your data is quicker and easier than ever before.

Ensuring your website’s security is up to scratch should be an important priority, whether it processes monetary transactions or not. If the website collects any data at all, including having a simple contact form, or if the hosting account has an email service that could be exploited, securing your hosting environment gives you the best possible head-start against those who would seek to harm your business.

Hackers and thieves have a range of incentives that draw them towards breaking into, tampering with, or simply causing destruction to your website. Such activities as hijacking your hosting resources to send bulk spam, inserting malicious or dangerous links throughout your website to negatively manipulate your search engine rankings, or stealing your customer data so that it can be sold to your competitors are all frequent goals.

Not sure what sort of security you’ll need? No worries. Our friendly team of hosting security experts are on-hand to guide you.

What is an ssl certificate?

Today’s online shoppers are savvy about online security. Before completing a transaction or sharing personal information with you, online visitors need to know that your website can be trusted. Secure Socket Layer (SSL) Certificates provide a visual indicator that your website is legitimate and secure. When choosing an SSL Certificate, consider the brand recognition, turn-around time and investment cost that is right for your business. Start building consumer confidence and online profit by securing your website with an SSL Certificate today.

Why do I need an SSL Certificate?

Security and trust is essential when you’re operating an online business. Your visitors need to know they can trust you and that their data will be safe. By installing an SSL Certificate on your website you’ll be proving your identity and encrypting anything sent to your server, such as personal or financial data. This means even if someone is listening, they’ll not be able to read what’s been sent.

Digital Pacific is an Authorised Partner of RapidSSL and GeoTrust. These trusted SSL providers secure hundreds of thousands of prominent websites worldwide and through these partners we can offer you a range of publicly trusted and highly cost effective SSL Certificates.

SSL Certificates should be used to secure your website transactions, logins, webmail and connections. We offer you the highest levels of security, confidence and trust in your web site and online brand. We take pride in our security and the security of our customers.

How does an SSL Certificate work?

The end-user’s browser requests a secure channel (via “https:”) from the server, and then – if the server has an SSL Certificate – the browser and the server negotiate their highest common encryption strength (e.g., 256-bits) and exchange the corresponding encryption keys (this exchange is normally done using 2048-bit encryption strength). The 256-bit encryption key is then used for this particular instance of SSL, for all from-to exchanges between the browser and the server. The next https session will have a new session key. The SSL Certificate guarantees the security of the connection between the browser and the server. Once data is in the server, it is up to the server admin to make sure the data remains protected.

Do I need a Dedicated IP Address?

For maximum compatibility you should have a Dedicated IP Address assigned to your web hosting account with Digital Pacific. If you have a Dedicated Server or VPS, you can assign the certificate to your main server hostname or any site on the server that is hosted on a dedicated IP address. The reason for needing a separate IP address per domain you want to secure is that the SSL protocol is bound to dedicated IP addresses, while a certificate is bound only to a domain name. Therefore, any certificate-enabled web site should have its own unique IP address. The IP can be real (routable) or internal (RFC 1918 non-routable address), but it must be unique on a server.

Dedicated IPs can take up to 24 hours to be active on your domain and are available for $60/yr if your service is hosted with Digital Pacific, and you can order one by clicking here

What is the difference between Domain, Organisation and Extended Validation?

Domain Validated SSL Certificates are fully automated which means you’ll be able to start protecting your website within a few minutes, 24/7. DomainSSL activates the browser padlock and https, and assures your customers that you take security seriously

Organization Validated SSL Certificates provide identity confirmation and strong SSL protection for your website. Your customers see that the SSL Provider has authenticated your identity – strengthening their trust that they’re doing business with the right people. Organisation Validated Certificates give your website a step up in credibility over Domain Validated SSL Certificates, and are typically used in enterprise or eCommerce applications. Organization Validated SSL Certificates activate the browser padlock and https, shows your company name in the certificate, and assures your customers that you take security very seriously.

Extended Validation SSL Certificates provide the highest level of trust and assurance. Extended SSL customers are authenticated to the highest industry standards. When visitors visit a website protected by ExtendedSSL, the address bar turns green and your organization name is displayed in the browser interface. Higher trust means more confidence in your website, and more confidence means more converting visitors to sales!

What if I change my mind? Do you offer refunds?

If you change your mind on your certificate purchase we offer a 14-Day Money Back Guarantee and will fully refund the purchase price of your certificate (Excluding any installation services purchased).

How Do I renew my certificate?

If you have purchased a RapidSSL, Geotrust Certificate an invoice will be generated for the renewal of your SSL Certificate 30 days from the expiry date.

Once you have paid the invoice you will just need to install it again by following our installation instructions.
