Every time CDP creates a new recovery point and replicates deltas it takes a point-in-time file system snapshot using Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy. This means your file system is synchronized and made consistent before the deltas are replicated. Unlike traditional backup methods changes made to your server after the snapshot is performed never appear in your recovery point disk image.
The CDP Server Software can be installed on either a Microsoft Windows Server or Linux Server. Regardless of O/S selection for the CDP Server both Windows and Linux computers running the CDP Agent program can be protected. Both Linux and Windows data protection are managed from a single web interface on the CDP Server.
The CDP web-based interface is full featured and easy-to-use remote management of your server backups. In addition to the policy management and reporting you can browse, download, and restore files from your recovery points using an explorer style interface. Easily manage recovery points and Disk Safes using bulk edits. See detailed progress of replication and restore jobs as they run.
CDP Server works by installing a CDP Agent (client) on the Windows or Linux target server to be protected. The target server could be a physical or virtual machine. The CDP Agents communicate over a PGP key secured TCP/IP network or Internet connection with a CDP Server data repository.
