GLOBAL DOMAIN NAMES
.com, .net, .info, .mobi, or .org

Update DNS Icon Important! For transfers on all global domains please refer to the following:

  • Please make sure your domain does not expire within the next 7 days. If it does, you will need to renew your domain name at the current registrar and then complete the transfer request below.
  • When the transfer process has begun, you will not be able to make any changes to your domain name until transfer is completed. Transfers usually take 4 -7 days to complete
  • The cost of the transfer is the same as the cost of new domain registration. However, the transfer will extend the registration of a domain name by 12 months of the current expiry date.
  • The invoice must be paid before the transfer can start.

PREPARATION TO TRANSFER YOUR DOMAIN NAME

STEP 1

Turn off registrar lock at your current registrar. Domain lock prevents your domain name from being transferred to another registrar. It was designed to prevent domain hijackers. Most of the time, domain lock is off by default.

STEP 2

You must have the domain transfer password. Many registrars will refer to this as the “auth info”, or”epp” password which you would have received when you originally ordered the domain name.

STEP 1 – UPDATE YOUR DNS

This step should only be completed if you wish to point your domain to a Digital Pacific hosting service

When you choose to transfer your domain name to Digital Pacific, we suggest that you update your DNS (Domain Name Server) first.

If your domain name registrar offers a domain management interface, you should login and make changes so your domain name points to our name servers.

STEP 2 – CHECK YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS

Make sure your domain name has your current email address associated with it because the domain transfer initiation email will be sent there. You can usually update or confirm this email address by contacting the company you originally purchased your domain name from, or by accessing their domain management section.

Have your domain transfer password ready and make sure you turned off the registrar lock at your current registrar.

STEP 3 – FILL OUT THE FORM & SUBMIT

Go to our domain transfer page and complete the transfer form. Start transfer

Approximately 12-24 hours after submitting the transfer form, an email will be sent to the domain registrant email address requesting permission to initiate the transfer. You must click on the link in that email for the transfer to start. If you do not click on the link the transfer will not start.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

Help Icon Domain transfers can take up to 7 days to complete from the time you click on the link in the domain transfer initiation email. No changes can be made to your domain name whilst the domain transfer is in progress.

When the process is completed, you will receive an email from Digital Pacific confirming that the domain transfer was successful. If you do not receive this email, please contact us to see why the transfer did not complete.
