New Zealand Domain Names

Want to transfer your .nz domains to Digital Pacific?

When you choose to transfer your domain name to Digital Pacific, we suggest that you update your domain name DNS (Domain Name Settings) first. If your domain name registrar offers a domain management interface you should login and make changes so your domain name points at our name servers first, to see our name server information please visit our support section.

Please make sure your domain does not expire within the next 7 days, if it does you will need to renew your domain name at the current registrar then complete the transfer request below.

When the transfer process has begun, you will not be able to make any changes to your domain name until transfer is completed, transfers usually take 4 -7 days to complete.

The cost of the transfer is the same as the cost of new domain registration, however the transfer will extend the registration of domain name by 12 months of current expiry date.

The invoice must be paid before the transfer can start.

Below are the steps to transferring your .NZ domain to Digital Pacific. For global and other domain names please visit our
transfer domain name page.

  1. Make sure your domain name has your current email address associated with it as the domain transfer initiation email will be sent to that email address, you can find this out from the company that you originally purchased your domain name from. You can usually update your email address from their domain management section or by calling them.

Before you start a transfer of your .au domain you must have the domain transfer code or UDAI. The UDAI is a unique code (combination of numbers and letters) which acts like a key and allows you to both update, and transfer your .nz domain name. You would have been issued with a UDAI when your domain name was registered, or more importantly, you can generate one by logging into your current Registrar site and requesting a new UDAI be emailed to you. UDAI stands for: Unique Domain Attribute Identifier.
  2. Go to our domain transfer page here and complete the transfer form. The second step will ask for an EPP code, this is where you enter your UDAI.
  3. Approximately 12-24 hours after submitting the transfer form you will be sent an email to the domain registrant email address requesting permission to initiate the domain transfer. You must click on the link in that email for the transfer to start, if you do not click on the link the transfer will not start.
  4. Domain transfers can take up to 7 days to complete from the time you click on the link in the domain transfer initiation email. No changes can be made to your domain name whilst the domain transfer is in progress.
  5. When the process is completed you will receive an email from Digital Pacific confirming that the transfer of your domain was successful. If you don't get this email the transfer did not complete and you will need to contact us to find out why.
