Global Domain Names

.com, .net., .info, .mobi, or .org

When you choose to transfer your domain name to Digital Pacific, we suggest that you update your domain name DNS (Domain Name Settings) first. If your domain name registrar offers a domain management interface you should login and make changes so your domain name points at our name servers first, to see our name server information please visit our support section.

Please make sure your domain does not expire within the next 7 days, if it does you will need to renew your domain name at the current registrar then complete the transfer request below.

When the transfer process has begun, you will not be able to make any changes to your domain name until transfer is completed, transfers usually take 4 -7 days to complete.

The cost of the transfer is the same as the cost of new domain registration, however the transfer will extend the registration of domain name by 12 months of current expiry date.

The invoice must be paid before the transfer can start.

Below are the steps to transferring your domain name to Digital Pacific. For .au domain names please visit our transfer
Australian Domain Names page.

  1. Make sure your domain name has your current email address associated with it as the domain transfer initiation email will be sent to that email address, you can find this out from the company that you originally purchased your domain name from. You can usually update your email address from their domain management section or by calling them.
  2. Turn off registrar lock at your current registrar. Domain lock prevents your domain name from being transferred to another registrar. It was designed to prevent domain hijackers. Most of the time, domain lock is off by default.

Before you start a transfer of your domain name you must have the domain transfer password. Many registrars will refer to this password as an "auth info" password, or an "epp password' you would have got the transfer password when you originally ordered the domain name, if you don't have the transfer password, see below.
    1. Go to our WHOIS Lookup page
    2. Type in your domain name (& then enter the text shown in the image for security)
    3. Find the information described as "Registrar name", or "Registrar of Record"
    4. contact this company for information about retrieving your domain password.
  3. Go to our domain transfer page here and complete the transfer form.
  4. Approximately 12-24 hours after submitting the transfer form you will be sent an email to the domain registrant email address requesting permission to initiate the domain transfer. You must click on the link in that email for the transfer to start, if you do not click on the link the transfer will not start.
  5. Domain transfers can take up to 7 days to complete from the time you click on the link in the domain transfer initiation email. No changes can be made to your domain name whilst the domain transfer is in progress.
  6. When the process is completed you will receive an email from Digital Pacific confirming that the transfer of your domain was successful. If you don't get this email the transfer did not complete and you will need to contact us to find out why.
