Domain name transfers are free if your domain name is not due to expire in the next 90 days, otherwise domain normal domain registration pricing applies. The registration will extend your current domain registration by a further 2 years from the current expiry date. (ALL INITIAL TRANSFER ORDERS RECEIVED FOR .AU WILL BE FREE. THE TRANSFER CODE SUPPLIED IS USED TO DETERMINE THE EXACT EXPIRY DATE. IF THE DOMAIN IS DUE TO EXPIRE WITHIN 90 DAYS AN INVOICE IS THEN GENERATED FOR THE TRANSFER AND EMAILED TO THE CLIENT, once the transfer has successfully completed the domain will be reserved for another 2 years.)

When you choose to transfer your domain name to Digital Pacific, we suggest that you update your domain name DNS (Domain Name Settings) first. If your domain name registrar offers a domain management interface you should login and make changes so your domain name points are our name servers first, to see our name server information please visit our support section.

When the transfer process has begun, you will not be able to make any changes to your domain name until transfer is completed, transfers usually take 4 -7 days to complete.

Below are the steps to transferring your .AU domain to Digital Pacific. For global and other domain names please visit our

  1. Make sure your domain name has your current email address associated with it as the domain transfer initiation email will be sent to that email address, you can find this out from the company that you originally purchased your domain name from. You can usually update your email address from their domain management section or by calling them.

    Before you start a transfer of your .au domain you must have the domain transfer code or EPP code, please get your code here http://admin.auda.org.au/passwordMail/PasswordMail
  2. Go to our domain transfer page here and complete the transfer form.
  3. Approximately 12-24 hours after submitting the transfer form you will be sent an email to the domain registrant email address requesting permission to initiate the domain transfer. You must click on the link in that email for the transfer to start, if you do not click on the link the transfer will not start.
  4. Domain transfers can take up to 7 days to complete from the time you click on the link in the domain transfer initiation email. No changes can be made to your domain name whilst the domain transfer is in progress.
  5. When the process is completed you will receive an email from Digital Pacific confirming that the transfer of your domain was successful. If you don't get this email the transfer did not complete and you will need to contact us to find out why.
